Description

Gibbs Farm

Ngorongoro Crater

Open year round

Gibb’s Farm was originally built by German settlers to this area around 1929 and is one of the oldest guest houses in Tanzania. Located equidistant from Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater the cottages are set amongst lush well tended gardens with panoramic views over the surrounding coffee plantations.

Guests arriving at Gibb’s Farm are first welcomed to the old farmhouse that has low ceilings and bare cement floors strewn with colorful carpets. The main guest dining room is divided into two levels with large glass windows affording beautiful views over the coffee plantations.

The grounds at Gibb’s Farm are extensive and all meals can be enjoyed either inside or outdoors. There is a swimming pool as well as spa treatments that can be enjoyed in the privacy of your cottage. A curio shop is well worth browsing for local artifacts.

Game viewing in the Crater or Lake Manyara area is excellent with virtually guaranteed sightings of Lion, Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo and Hyena.

Cottages

There are 21 private cottages at Gibb’s Farm that are spacious and designed with lots of light and bright colors. Each of the cottages has a small lounge area in front of a fireplace as well as two queen size beds. Each cottage has it’s own private balcony with views out over the gardens or coffee plantations.

The fireplace separates the lounge from the bedroom and creates a very warm and cosy atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom is accessed via a sliding door and has both inside and outdoor showers. There is also a built in stone bath.

Farm Houses

There are two farmhouses at Gibb’s Farm, Bustani and Deutsches. Both can accommodate 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
